Pets Lovers is committed to protecting your privacy. This notice, in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR - EU Reg. 2016/679), describes how we collect, use and protect your personal data.

Registration data: email and password (encrypted)
Profile data: name, profile photo
Pet data: name, type, breed, date of birth, microchip, photos, weight
Pet health data: veterinary visits, vaccinations, medications, diagnoses, medical exams, veterinary documents
Expense data: amount, category, description, receipts
Appointments: date, title, type, status, notes
Family data: family members, roles, permissions
Location data: GPS coordinates for nearby veterinarian search (only when requested)
Error logs: technical information to improve the app

3. Legal Basis and Purpose of Processing

Your data is processed on the following legal bases:

Contract performance: to provide app services
Consent: for push notifications (revocable at any time)
Legitimate interest: to improve the app and ensure security

Purposes of processing:

Provide and improve app services
Manage your account and preferences
Enable sharing with family members
Send local notifications and reminders (with consent)
Analyse errors to improve the experience
Ensure app security

4. Data Sharing with Third Parties

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. Data may be shared in the following cases:

With your family members (if you have invited them)
With third-party service providers: Supabase (database hosting and file storage, GDPR compliant), Google Places API (veterinarian search, GPS coordinates and queries only)
If required by law or to protect the rights of Pets Lovers

IMPORTANT: The app does NOT use third-party analytics, tracking or advertising services.

5. Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational security measures to protect your data:

Data encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS)
Password encryption with secure algorithms
Strict role-based access controls (owner, admin, member)
Secure authentication (PKCE flow for OAuth)
Isolated storage per family (privacy by design)
Regular automatic backups
Error logging for security monitoring
Secure file deletion upon account removal

6. Your Rights (Art. 15-22 GDPR)

You have the right to:

Access (Art. 15): access your personal data at any time from the app
Rectification (Art. 16): correct inaccurate or incomplete data directly from the app
Erasure (Art. 17): request deletion of your data via the "Delete account" function in your profile
Portability (Art. 20): export your data in JSON or CSV format via the "Export data" function in your profile
Withdrawal of consent (Art. 7): revoke consent for notifications in settings
Objection (Art. 21): object to data processing
Restriction (Art. 18): request restriction of processing
Complaint: file a complaint with the Italian Data Protection Authority

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained for the strictly necessary period:

Account data: retained as long as you maintain an active account
Family invitations: expire automatically after 60 days (2 months)
Image cache: cleared automatically on logout
Error logs: retained for security purposes

You can request account deletion at any time from the "Manage data" section in your profile. Once the account is deleted:

All personal data is permanently erased
Photos, documents and files are removed from storage
If you are the owner of a family with other members, ownership is automatically transferred
The operation is irreversible

8. Children

Pets Lovers does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 14 without parental consent, in compliance with Art. 8 GDPR. If you are a parent and discover that your child has provided personal data without your consent, contact us immediately at denis.truccone@gmail.com for removal.

9. International Transfers

Your data may be transferred and stored on servers located in the European Union or in third countries that ensure an adequate level of data protection according to the European Commission. Our hosting provider (Supabase) is GDPR compliant.

10. Changes to Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to update this notice periodically to reflect legislative changes or changes to our services. We will notify you of any significant changes via the app or by email. The last update date is always visible at the bottom of this page.
