Terms and Conditions of Use

Welcome to Pets Lovers. By using this application and the petslovers.app website you accept the terms below. Please read them carefully.

Pets Lovers is a personal project, not a company. The service is free and involves no purchases.

1. Acceptance of the Terms

By accessing and using Pets Lovers you agree to be bound by these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not accept them, please do not use the application.

2. What the Service Does

Pets Lovers helps you keep your pets' records in order. It includes:

Pet profiles, with photos, microchip and identifying details
Health record: visits, vaccinations, tests, procedures, treatments and documents
Appointment calendar, with reminders on your device
Expense log, with receipts and invoices, and a yearly invoice export
Weight history and a feeding portion calculator
Access to the archive of authorised veterinary medicines
Family sharing, with roles and permissions
Search for vets and groomers nearby
Temporary sharing of a clinical record with your vet
Public map of lost pets and sightings, with alerts by area

Some features may not be available in every country.

3. Your Account

To use Pets Lovers you must:

Create an account with accurate information and keep it up to date
Look after your password and not share it
Be responsible for what happens through your account
Tell us straight away if you suspect unauthorised access
Be at least 16 years old

4. How the Service May Be Used

By using Pets Lovers you agree to:

Not use it for unlawful purposes
Not upload content that is offensive, defamatory, misleading, or that you have no right to publish
Not attempt to bypass security measures or reach other people's data
Not harvest other users' data, in particular from the public map
Not use the map for anything other than finding a pet
Respect other people's intellectual property

5. Published Content and Moderation

Reports on the map are content published by users. Content that is unlawful, offensive, misleading, promotional, or that concerns people rather than lost animals, is not allowed.

Every report sent from the website is reviewed before publication. Reports published from the app can be removed at any time if they break these rules.

If you believe published content is unlawful or contrary to these Terms, you can report it from the report card or by writing to denis.truccone@gmail.com, saying which content it is and why. We look at every report and tell you the outcome.

If we reject or remove content you submitted, we tell you why at the email address you gave. You can contest the decision by replying to that message.

6. The Lost Pet Map

The map is a way to get a report circulating, not a search service.

We do not guarantee that a report will be seen, spread, or lead to a pet being found
We do not verify what is published beyond formal moderation
Contact between users happens outside the service, on their own responsibility

Watch out for scams: people looking for a lost pet are an easy target. Never send money up front, do not give the microchip number to strangers, and be wary of anyone asking for payment to return your pet.

7. No Professional Advice

We do not provide veterinary advice or diagnoses
The information in the app is there to organise and inform
The portion calculator gives indicative values from standard formulas: a feeding plan should be agreed with a vet, who knows your animal
The medicines archive reproduces public data from the Italian Ministry of Health, with no guarantee that it is current or complete, and it is not a treatment recommendation
Always consult a qualified vet on any health question
We are not responsible for decisions taken on the basis of data in the app

IMPORTANT: Pets Lovers is a record-keeping tool and does NOT replace a vet's opinion.

8. Intellectual Property and User Content

The design, logo, text and code of Pets Lovers belong to the service provider.

The content you upload stays yours. So that we can run the service, you grant us a limited licence to store, process and display it:

For private content (pet photos, documents, receipts): the licence covers only storing it and showing it to you and to your family members, and to your vet when you start a sharing session
For content you choose to publish on the map: the licence covers publication and communication to the public, limited to the purpose of finding the animal, for as long as the report lasts. Withdrawing the report ends the licence

By uploading content you confirm you have the right to do so. Do not publish other people's photos or text — including material taken from social media posts — without the permission of whoever made it.

9. Personal Data

How your personal data is handled is described in the Privacy Policy, written under the GDPR (EU Reg. 2016/679), and in the Cookie Policy as far as the website is concerned.

GDPR rights can be exercised from the app or by writing to the service provider:

See your data: it is all visible in the app
Export it: Profile > Manage data > Export data (JSON or CSV)
Correct it: edit directly in the app
Delete it: Profile > Manage data > Delete account
Withdraw consent: from the settings of the feature it belongs to

WARNING: deleting your account is permanent. We suggest exporting your data first.

10. Warranties and Limitation of Liability

Pets Lovers is a free service provided "as is", with no guarantee of uninterrupted or error-free operation. We do what we can to keep it running and your data safe, but we cannot guarantee the service will always be reachable.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for indirect damage arising from use or inability to use the service, for interruptions, or for loss of data not caused by our fault.

Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for personal injury, or any liability that the law does not allow to be excluded. If you are a consumer, the rights the law of your country gives you remain unaffected.

We do suggest keeping a copy of your data using "Export data": it is the simplest way not to depend on a single archive.

11. Changes to the Service and to These Terms

We may:

Add, change or remove features
Suspend or discontinue the service, giving notice where possible
Update these Terms

We tell you about significant changes through the app, which will ask you to accept the new version. If you do not accept it, you can stop using the service and delete your account, once you have exported your data.

12. Suspension and Deletion of Accounts

We may suspend or close an account if:

These Terms are broken
The service is used fraudulently or in a way that harms others
False information is provided

Except in serious or urgent cases, we tell you first and say why, so you can respond.

Deleting your own account:

Open the app and go to "Profile"
Select "Manage data"
Scroll to "Delete account"
Confirm the deletion

What happens when you delete your account:

Profile, pets, health records, expenses, appointments, documents and photos are deleted
If you own a family with other members, ownership passes to another member and the shared data stays available to them
The reports you published on the map are removed along with the account
The operation cannot be undone

Before deleting, export your data with "Export data".

13. Third-Party Services

To work, the service relies on:

Supabase — database, file storage and authentication
Resend — sending service emails
Mapbox — maps and turning addresses into coordinates
Vercel — hosting the website
Google Places API — searching for vets and groomers

The application does NOT contain:

Analytics or tracking services
Third-party advertising
Profiling cookies

Reminders are handled by your device and do not go through cloud services. Where they process personal data, these providers are described in the Privacy Policy along with the role they play.

14. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by Italian law.

If you use the service as a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the country where you habitually live, and you may bring proceedings before the courts of your place of residence. If you are not a consumer, the courts of Milan have exclusive jurisdiction.

You may also use the European online dispute resolution platform, available at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.

15. Language

These Terms are available in Italian, English, Spanish, French and German. In case of divergence between versions the Italian one prevails, without prejudice to the rights the law of your country gives you in your own language.
